Verbal’s Reading Rooms are hosting four open sessions as part of Derry/Londonderry’s Get Creative Weekend on 7th and 8th April.
Reading Rooms encourages people to get together and explore stories and poems, stimulating reaction and conversation. We are a nation of storytellers, and stories are how we make sense of the world and learn about each other, finding out who we are as individuals. You don’t have to be a reader to join in at one of the session; just come and listen and let us know your thoughts on the stories our trained facilitators will introduce you to,
There are four open Reading Rooms to be hosted by Verbal Arts Centre during the weekend:
Friday 7th April: 10 – 11:30am & 12 – 1.30pm
(open to all)
Saturday 8th April: 12.00 – 1:30pm & 2 – 3:30pm
(3 – 10 years)
Get Creative celebrates and supports everyday creativity happening in homes and public spaces across the UK. From guerrilla gardening in your street to paint-by-numbers in your local library, via nail art, yarn bombing and choir singing, building an actively creative UK that caters for everyone of every age, background and ability.
Get Creative aims to inspire people to try something new at home or at a Get Creative event and to encourage people to share their own examples of everyday creativity. The campaign works with Get Creative Champions to create participatory events that are accessible for everyone and to develop local networks that create new collaborations and relationships.
Other events for Get Creative Weekend are happening at Verbal Arts Centre, as well as Foyleside Shopping Centre and In Your Space Circus. The full programme is available here.
