The Reading Rooms have partnered once again with Big Telly Theatre Company as part of their Creative Shops programme this time in Dungiven. This is building on the success we had together in Strabane.
Caitriona McLaughlin, the officer for the project, commented on the experience: “Thank you so much for sending Kathy to us. She was fantastic. Not only were the pieces really beautiful, especially the poem, but she was so generous with her time. Thanks a million, Reading Rooms.”
The Reading Room took place in a shop front in Main Street, Dungiven,as part of Big Telly’s ‘ThanksGiven Festival’, which happened over Thanksgiving Weekend. ‘The Robe’ by Tove Jansson and ‘My Father’ by Yehuda Amichai were read by the group.
The Creative Shops project is a professionally led arts programme which supports communities and traders to reanimate town centres. Big Telly collaborates with local community, educational and commercial organisations in towns across Northern Ireland, to deliver innovative and dynamic programmes which transform empty shops into shared creative spaces.
